How Can Students Draw Benefits from Some Programs in Pursuit of Their Higher?

It is a turning point in every student’s life when they seek college admission. But most of them cannot do so due to their proper guidance and lack of sufficient knowledge. As a result, they end up compromising their careers. The following programs will enlighten their path in pursuit of their higher education:

GEAR UP programs: It is a federal program that gives support to students who belong to low-income communities. Even most of them may be the first person to graduate from high school or move on to college in their family. GEAR UP started providing its services right from middle school, giving guidance to both students and families through the early years of college preparation, including the academic, social, emotional, and financial aspects of preparation. This program also ensures students have access to the resources, people, and information needed to get a graduate degree from high school and succeed in postsecondary education.

By using GEAR UP programs, students can recognize the assets and needs of local communities. It is likely to increase the number of students from low–income communities who are prepared to not only enter but succeed in postsecondary education.

TRIO programs: These programs is a group of programs that place disadvantaged students who want to pursue higher education. It involves eight programs, and each one has a unique focus. The programs are meant to help students who belong to low-income backgrounds, students having disabilities, and first-generation college students.

TRIO programs are not only meant for university students but also for middle-class students so that they can brighten their future and succeed in their lives. Apart from helping students, these programs also include programs that can provide training to the staff as well as directors for greater TRIO projects. 

Students themselves cannot apply for grants usingTRIO program. Rather, the grants are dispensed to various educational institutions, such as places of higher education, as well as community-based organizations and private agencies that help disadvantaged students.

TRIO is not an acronym but a name that was attributed after the first three programs were established.
